At the end of the visit, we will depart for FÁTIMA. Arrival directly at the hotel. Overnight.
03 FÁTIMA Breakfast. Today we will devote the day to discovering the Sanctuary and the spirituality of Fátima. In the morning we will go to the Via Sacra to take part in the Way of the Cross along the Valinhos path. After the Way of the Cross we will visit the houses of the Little Shepherds in the small village of Aljustrel: first Lucia's house and, further on, the house of Francisco and Jacinta. In the afternoon, we will visit the Sanctuary of Fátima complex: the great Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity and the beautiful Basilica of the Rosary, where the three little shepherds of Fátima are buried. We will end our visit at what is perhaps the heart of the Sanctuary, the so-called Little Chapel (Capelinha). Dinner at the hotel. After dinner, those who wish can take part in the Holy Rosary and the Candlelight Procession.
04 FÁTIMA LISBON FÁTIMA Breakfast. Day devoted to visiting Lisbon. We will see the historic center, Praça do Comércio, Rossio Square, the cathedral and the house of Saint Anthony. In the afternoon, we will go to the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, one of the symbols of Lisbon and Portugal. Return to the hotel in Fátima.
05 FÁTIMA PORTO SANTIAGO Breakfast. Departure for the beautiful city of Porto. We will stop to visit this lovely Portuguese city. Porto's highlights include monuments and sites such as the Clérigos Tower, the Cathedral and the city's historic bridges over the Douro River. We will then continue our pilgrimage to SANTIAGO. Arrival and overnight.
06 SANTIAGO Breakfast. The destination of millions of pilgrims who, for centuries, have walked the Way of Saint James from different parts of the world. As pilgrims, we will arrive at the Plaza del Obradoiro, where we will admire the imposing façade of the Cathedral of Santiago. We will take a tour of the narrow streets and squares of this medieval city and enter the cathedral to venerate the tomb of one of the apostles of Jesus, and one of the most important in the Gospels: the Apostle James, also known as Saint James the Great. His body and tomb are here. This afternoon is free in Santiago. At the indicated time, transfer to the hotel.
07 SANTIAGO COVADONGA SANTANDER Breakfast. We will continue our pilgrimage to Covadonga, a Marian sanctuary in Asturias. Before reaching the Sanctuary we may make a short stop for lunch in Cangas de Onís. We will then go up the mountain to the beautiful Sanctuary of Covadonga. We will see the basilica as well as the Holy Cave, home to the image of the Santina, as the image of Our Lady of Covadonga is affectionately called. Afterwards, we continue
to Santander. Arrival at the hotel. Overnight.
08 SANTANDER SANTO TORIBIO GARABANDAL Breakfast. Departure for Santo Toribio de Liébana. Today our route will cross the Picos de Europa to reach a remote monastery hidden in this region of Liébana. We will visit this thousand-year-old monastery, which holds one of the most important relics in all of Christendom: a Lignum Crucis, that is, a piece of the cross of Christ, in fact the largest surviving piece of the Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. After the visit we will have the chance to stroll around and enjoy some free time for lunch in Potes, one of the prettiest and most picturesque villages in Spain. In the afternoon we will leave for Garabandal. It is said that here, in the 1960s, the Virgin Mary appeared to four girls over several years, leaving humanity hundreds of messages; these apparitions are documented and still being studied by the Church. We will discover the spirituality of Garabandal. We will go to the small parish church, visit the pilgrims' center and walk up the lane, now also a Way of the Cross, to the pines, where we will have the chance to spend a moment in personal prayer at the place where the Virgin appeared to the girls. After the visit, return to the hotel in Santander.
09 SANTANDER Breakfast, then departure for the Basque Country to visit Loyola. Today's pilgrimage stop will be the Holy House where one of the most important saints in the history of the Church was born and experienced his conversion: the founder of the Society of Jesus, Saint Ignatius of Loyola. During our visit to the Sanctuary we will see the beautiful basilica and also the Tower House, which contains the house museum where we will learn more about the history and life of Saint Ignatius. The house also holds the Chapel of the Conversion. We will have some time for personal prayer. We will continue on to Lourdes, crossing the border into France until we reach the French town of Lourdes. Arrival at the hotel. Overnight.
10 LOURDES Breakfast. Today we will devote the day to Lourdes, one of the main sites of our Marian pilgrimage. In the morning, we will attend Holy Mass at the Grotto. Afterwards we will be able to watch the video on the message of Lourdes to immerse ourselves in its history. We will also tour the Sanctuary complex to see some of the most significant places in the life of Bernadette, the little girl who received the apparitions
of the Virgin Mary. During the day in Lourdes, pilgrims will have time for personal prayer, Eucharistic adoration in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, confession and taking part in the Sanctuary's activities, as well as the chance to visit the baths. Return to the hotel. In the evening we will be able to join the Torchlight Procession while the pilgrims pray the Holy Rosary. Return to the hotel.
11 LOURDES - TORRECIUDAD – ZARAGOZA Breakfast. This morning we will travel across the impressive Pyrenees to the beautiful Sanctuary of Torreciudad. The Sanctuary is set above the impressive El Grado reservoir at the foot of the Pyrenees.
This Marian sanctuary, deeply cherished by Saint Josemaría Escrivá, keeps the image of Our Lady of Torreciudad, and the whole Sanctuary is a celebration and veneration of Mary. We will visit the Sanctuary, whose highlight is its beautiful and impressive Aragonese-style altarpiece, and we will also see the galleries dedicated to the Virgin. At the indicated time, we continue to Zaragoza. Arrival at the hotel. Overnight.
12 ZARAGOZA MADRID Breakfast. This morning we will visit another of the Marian sanctuaries on this pilgrimage: the first sanctuary in Christendom, since it was in Zaragoza that the Virgin appeared in mortal flesh to the Apostle James to comfort him and encourage him in his mission of evangelization. Tradition says that the Virgin appeared on a jasper pillar, and ever since this Pillar has been venerated as a reminder that the Virgin was here, in Zaragoza. We will also see the city, whose highlights include the Aljafería Palace and La Seo Cathedral. Then free time in the city and departure for Madrid. Arrival at the hotel. Overnight.
