Day 01: Welcome to Lima, City of Kings, and the Larco Museum of Cultures
Arrival in Lima, welcome and assistance with your transfer to the hotel.
An exclusive, in-depth tour of Lima's Historic Center will take us to discover and admire the architectural treasures of old Lima, recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The Convent of Santo Domingo is the starting point of this magnificent experience. It was built during the founding of Lima. The National University of San Marcos, the oldest in the Americas, was founded within its walls. Inside are the choir, with the oldest choir stalls in the country, and the library, with 25,000 books, some printed in the 15th century and of priceless historical value. The remains of Saint Martin de Porres, Saint John Macías and Saint Rose of Lima rest inside. Crossing the Plaza Mayor, past the Government Palace and City Hall, we will enter the Cathedral, a jewel of Lima's history, with works of art that bring us closer to colonial Lima. We will then leave the Center and head to the Larco Museum, where we will get a clear picture of the cultures that inhabited Ancient Peru. We will be amazed by the gold pieces, textiles and erotic ceramics in its collection, which introduce us to the worldview of the ancient Peruvians. The museum's storeroom will be open during our visit so we can admire the artistic expressions captured in their ceramics.
Day 02: Lima at your own pace
Free day. Lima offers a wide range of cultural, archaeological and adventure activities. Book your activities in advance.
Day 03: Cusco, Capital of the Empire, and Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park
Transfer to the airport. Departure to Cusco. Arrival, assistance and transfer to the hotel.
We will go up to the Archaeological Park of Sacsayhuaman and begin the tour by visiting the fortress of the same name, a beautiful place that radiates peace and tranquility, where we will admire the enormous stones, up to 4 meters high, used in its construction. We will continue to Q'enqo, the ancient Temple of the Puma, where you can see a sacrificial altar carved inside an enormous rock, and then to Tambomachay, sacred springs of life and health. Along the way, we will enjoy a panoramic view of Puca Pucará, a watchtower that guarded the entrance to the city. Afterwards, we will head to the Temple of the Sun, Qorikancha, on top of which the Convent of Santo Domingo was built; legend has it that this temple was completely covered in sheets of gold, which amazed the conquistadors when they arrived. To finish, we will see the Plaza de Armas and enter the Cathedral, which treasures priceless colonial works and paintings, such as the Cross that arrived with the first conquistadors.
Day 04: Inca Village of Chinchero, Moray Terraces and Inca Village of Ollantaytambo
Today we will visit the most outstanding sites of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will set off for the Village of Chinchero, the most typical and picturesque in the Sacred Valley. This village is famous for its women weavers. Short stop at a textile center to see the ancient Inca techniques for dyeing and spinning alpaca wool. We will visit its Inca square and its beautiful colonial church. We will continue to Moray, a beautiful Inca archaeological site made up of concentric agricultural terraces that served as a laboratory to recreate microclimates. Lunch. We will continue on to visit the last living town of the Incas, Ollantaytambo. We will visit the Temple of the Ten Windows, the Baths of the Ñusta and the Temple of the Sun. The views from the heights of Ollantaytambo will round off this magical day in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Overnight in the area.
